An otoscope is an ear examination device equipped with a light source and lens system, and is just one of the instruments used for this purpose. Otoscopes are portable, easy-to-maintain examination tools that provide clear imaging thanks to magnification and built-in illumination. The otoscope device is a handheld tool that uses a light source and a special magnifying lens to detect anomalies and potential diseases inside the ear.
A sealed system is used for pneumatic otoscopy, which allows for accurate diagnosis of otitis media. The rotating wide-angle viewing lens enables instrumentation under magnification.
An ophthalmoscope is a device that allows doctors to examine and diagnose by inspecting the inside of the eye. The ophthalmoscope device, powered by a battery, consists of a light source, mirrors, and a lens system. It uses a magnifying lens (ophthalmoscope) to examine the back of the eye (fundus), magnifying it up to a certain level (e.g., 15 times) for a detailed eye examination. This device is commonly referred to as an indirect ophthalmoscope.
The otoscope device, thanks to its LED light, illuminates the inside of the ear, providing the doctor with a clear and well-lit examination field. At the same time, the lenses in the device magnify the image of the ear canal, making the internal structure of the ear easily visible to the physician. The cold light generated by the LED light source is usually transmitted to the tip of the otoscope head via a fiber-optic light guide. The image obtained from the illuminated ear canal is then magnified by the magnification lens located at the back of the otoscope head, allowing for a detailed inspection by the physician.
